Located in the south of Morar is a fairly attractive beach. A broad half-moon of powdery, white sand in a rocky peninsula. This is one of the best beaches on the west coast of Scotland with clear white sand.

When I was at Camusdarach Beach last summer, there was a stunning wedding happening on the beach. Camusdarah is one of the best beaches to get married in Scotland. It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

Oldshoremore Beach

Impressive outcrops of stone surround the beach. Expect the water to be numbingly cold, even in the summer. But, it is exhilarating nonetheless.

Phollain is a pristine sandy beach and is often known as the sister beach to Oldshoremore. A craggy isle which is known as Eilean na n-Aiteig separates Oldshoremore and Phollain.

This is a very remote part of northwest Scotland. The only way to access this wonderland is to follow a 4-mile walking route from the hamlet of Blairmore.

One of the highlights that I remember from this beach is the large sand dunes.

Where are the white sand beaches in Scotland?

The white sand beaches are situated along the west coast of Scotland. Also, you will find white sand beaches on the islands of Scotland.

A few beaches which have the whitest sand are Mellon Udrigle, Cambusdarach Beach and Achmelvich Bay.

Are there warm beaches in Scotland?

Due to the northerly latitude in which Scotland is located, high temperatures are hard to come by. Often you will hear that Scotland receives a few days of summer each year.

The east coast of Scotland, near Dundee, has the highest recorded sunlight hours in Scotland. However, this does not mean to say that the beaches here are the warmest.

The west coast of Scotland is warmed by the gulf stream so the water is sometimes quite warm. It is very rare to get water which feels warm enough to swim in, therefore I would recommend wearing a wet suit.

Also, there are a few sheltered bays on the west coast of Scotland. Sometimes this is enough to protect you from the harsh winds while relaxing or exploring a beach.

Final Note

The west coast of Scotland is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. From the beaches, you will be rewarded with stunning views.

Some of the stretches of sand in Scotland have been mistaken for tropical beaches in other parts of the world.

The beaches in Scotland are perfect for photographers and connecting with nature. Also, on a nice day, you can relax and watch the calming waves approaching the beach.

Moreover, if the water is calm and it is a sunny day. You might see some people get involved in swimming and water sports.

Some of the most amazing remote beaches are located in the Inner Hebrides and the Outer Hebrides.

There is a wide selection of lovely beaches in Argyll and Bute on the west coast. Or you can travel further to the east coast to see some beaches with lovely golden sands.
