Breakfast and Brunch In Aberdeen: 22 Brilliant Spots
Aberdeen is a city in the northeast of Scotland, which is known as the Granite City. There are many great places to get breakfast and brunch in Aberdeen.
Brunch has easily become one of my favourite meals of the day. It is a great way to spend time with family and friends. Also, brunch is a great option for celebrations on the weekends or a quick coffee before you start work on the weekday.
It is not surprising that Aberdeen has a lot of fantastic brunch options.
Second Home Studio + Café
Location: Huntly Street
Second Home Café is located in the city centre’s Huntly Street and is marked by a bright pink door. The lovely café doubles up as an art studio and the goal of the venue is make to make art more accessible.
The cafe is relocated to the ground flor of the gym and there is a great outdoor space which is a sun trap. Moreover, the venue is dog and family friendly with high chairs and art supplies for kids.
Breakfast bagels, apple crumble pancakes and chai spiced banana bread are all options on the menu. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options on the menu.
The cake range are always expanding and this venue has a geat relaxing atmosphere. Also, it makes for an excellent workspace on a grey day.
Foodstory
Location: Thistle Street
Foodstory is a well-known food establishment on Thistle Street in Aberdeen. There are many great food options including for those with vegetarian and vegan needs.
Foodstory has a large premises with an outdoor seating area and a shop attached where you can buy sustainable food and home items.
There is a good selection of healthy meals including smoothie bowls, porridges and granola bowls with seeds and fruit.
The food is made from fresh ingredients, and there is an nice ambiance in this intimate cafe. In addition, there are plenty of drink options, including flavoured teas and coffees with impressive latte art.
One of their top dishes is hearty Granola pancakes topped with berry compote, organic yoghurt and syrup. Or you can try the Sourdough French Toast which comes with caramelised banana and candied pecans.
In Footdee (Fittie) head to the beach hut at end of the beach for some lovely pastries, cruffins, bun, croissants and other sweet treats. One that stands out for me is the vegan pina colada cruffins and the salted caramel, pecan cruffin.
Café Society
Location: Union Street
Café Society is one of the most budget brunch options in Aberdeen. Located on Union Street, their interiors are lovely and there is a friendly atmosphere.
The portions served for breakfast are generous and the food is freshly cooked and nicely presented. Overall, there is a good atmosphere, well staffed and friendly service.
JoJo’s Coffee Shop
Location: Belmont Street
JoJo’s Coffee Shop has outdoor and indoor seating available on their premises on Belmont Street. This is an excellent place to meet friends and family.
One of the top dishes on the menu is the BLT Bagel, topped with a fried egg. Also, for those with a sweet tooth, you can try one of the many cakes or waffles and maple syrup.
Moreover, the scones are terrific, definitely worth trying them! There is a lot of options and I am sure they will cater to a wide variety of needs.
Corner Tree Café
Location: Whitehall Road
Corner Tree Café is a small eatery in the West End area of Aberdeen. Their menu selection includes pancake stacks, breakfast waffles and French toast.
Corner Tree Café serve excellent smoothies. Also, I really enjoyed the Bischoff latter topped with sauce and whipped cream.
There is a good selection of dishes that are gluten free. The Corner Tree Café is a sister restaurant to the dog friendly Café Ahoy! and The Pier.
The Craftman Company
Location: Guild Street
The Craftman Company serves delicious food and coffee which has been roasted onsite. Also, the café is dog friendly, serves craft beer and is a live music establishment.
The interiors are quirky and full of character, the restaurant features high ceilings, large wooden tables and loads of window. You can spend hours in here are the atmosphere is very lively.
There are a lot of options of the menu including pancakes, pastries, smoothie bowls and a filled croissant. The Craftsman Company has the most delicious Turkish eggs in town, poached eggs, with Greek yoghurt and chorizo oil and slices to toast.
Also, the Mexican Bread is delicious, pancakes are extra fluffy and you can try the unique tiramisu sourdough french toast.
This café is located in the city centre, across from the Union Square, on the corner of Market Square and Guild Street. Some people rave about the pancakes, bacon and eggs.
You can make your breakfast boozy by affing a blood mary or a breakfast mar-tea-ni cocktail, which contains orange liquor, gin and Earl Grey tea. Also, you can buy coffee beans to take home.
Brewdog Castlegate
Location: Union Street
Brewdog is a bar which is more established for the extensive list of beers and pub grub. Now at Brewdog you can now enjoy a breakfast and brunch menu.
Usually, Brewdog is quieter in the mornings and you can enjoy a quiet breakfast. There is a variety of food options on the menu including granola and fresh yoghurt, breakfast rolls, avocado on toast, full breakfast and loaded pancakes.
One of the best dishes on the menu is the Haystack, there is also a veggie and vegan version.
Also, another popular choice on the menu is the delicious fried chicken and waffles with maple syrup and hot sauce combination – perfect for curing the sore heads from the weekend antics.
Brunch is served at Brewdog every Saturday and Sunday. The main Brewdog Distillery is based in a small town called Ellon in Aberdeenshire.
The Pier
Location: Esplanade Sea Beach
The Pier is a great place to pop in to once you have had a walk a round the promenade. The Pier opens at 8:30 a.m. ever day.
On offers is a pretty extensive menu with a selection of Scottish Breakfast, paninis and salads. You can indulge a full Scottish breakfast for £9.95 or get the ultimate version for £15.95.
There is a great option of drinks and smoothies including a Mackies of Scotland ice cream sundae. Also, the Pier serves many vegan and vegetarian options.
Dogs are welcome to sit in the outdoor seating area.
Figment
Location: Countesswells Road
Figment is a perfect place for any coffee lover. There own coffee is roasted from coffee beans on site and this ia a great place to charge your batteries for the day.
There is a variety to choose from and the baristas are experts and will be happy to guide you on your selection of coffee. In addition, the baristas are excelelnt at the latte art and the coffees are topped with decorative patterns.
On the menu, you can enjoy a wide variety of toppings on some sourdough toast. Also, there is a variety of the other things including the best breakfast buns in town and cinnamon spiced porridge.
The Long Dog Café
Location: Claremont Street
At the Long Dog Café, a breakfast menu is served all day. There are some great options on the menu some are basic while others you will not find anywhere else.
One of the more extravagant options is the Bacon Naan Bread. For those with a sweet tooth why not try freak shake, there are plenty of options including salted caramarl, biscoff, unicorn and chocolate brownie.
Dogs are welcome to this cafe. Also, there is a well-stocked and maintained boutique pet shop next door.
Parx Café
Location: Rubislaw Terrace
Parx Café is a great hidden gem of a café in Aberdeen, located on Rubislaw Terrace. There are so many lovely options including Korean Fried Chicken on a brioche bun, Breakfast burrito and the Balmoral Burrito.
Also, there is a lovely selection of sweet breakfast options including waffles with fresh fruit and yoghurt. The waffles are topped with seasonal compote.
Cup
Location: Little Belmont Street
Cup is a small café on Little Belmont Street in the centre of Aberdeen. It is well known for its shabby chic décor with mismatched tea giving an Alice in Wonderland theme.
Breakfast is served until mid afternoon. There are many things on the menu including full breakfast, breakfast rolls or pancakes, pastries, waffles, granola and porridge.
Also, there is a great drinks menu including a selection of flavoured teas and coffees. One of the things I recommend is the raspberry ripple tea latte.
Small plates are available to order for those with smaller appetites, also, there are vegan and vegetarian options on the menu.
Beach Tree Cafe
Location: Beach Boulevard
Beach Tree Café was formerly the Sand Dollar Café and is located on the Beach Promenade. This is a popular restaurant for those who are visiting Aberdeen beachfront for food, coffee, ice cream or entertainment.
The brunch and breakfast menu is served from 7:30 a.m to 2 p.m. The cooked breakfasts are at the top of the menu but also there are toasted bagels, croissants, pancakes and a variety of healthy dishes.
The Spanish Breakfat was on special when I was there and it looked delicious. One of the things that visitors rave about is the homemade french toast.
Café Ahoy
Location: Beach Boulevard
Café Ahoy is located on the Beach Boulevard and it is very easy to miss. The interior involves lovely décor with lots of woods.
The staff are friendly and helpful and dogs are welcome. Expect a Full Scottish Breakfast, Small Scottish, a Veggie Breakfast and the Ultimate Breakfast.
You can make your brunch into a boozy meal by separately adding a spiced bloody mary cocktail or an Aperol Spritz.
Kilau
Location: High Street
Kilau Coffee is located in Old Aberdeen by the Aberdeen University. The atmosphere in the café is great and and there are plenty of options on the menu.
There are many baked good on sale including scones, toast and pastries which always goes good with a coffee.
Bottomless Brunch Options
Aberdeen has some fantastic brunch options. This is the perfect way to spend a weekend morning with friends.
You can get brunch in one of the fun-filled studneets pubs or a high-end cocktail bar. There are many boozy brunch options to suite many styles and budget.
The Tippling House
Location: Belmont Street
Enjoy a champagne bottomless brunch at The Tippling House, a cocktail bar on Belmont Street. For the boozy brunch option it costs £39 per person, it is not cheap by is ideal for a special occasion.
Also, you get bottomless refills of champagne every 90 minutes. Name a better way to start your weekend.
The Tippling House is an excellent cocktail bar on Belmont Street. There is an excellent brunch menu which includes great dishes such as eggs royale with cured sea trout or buttermilk fried chicken and waffles.
The Spiritualist
Location: Langstane Place
Every Saturday and Sunday between 12 pm – 3 pm you can enjoy a boozy brunch at the Spiritualist in Aberdeen.
On arrival you get a bellini, a brunch dish and a JG Ross Rowie all for £29 per person. The cocktail bar serves brilliant drinks, two of which you can order as part of brunch.
There are six cocktails to choose from on the brunch menu. Also, to eat you can enjoy the breakfast burrito, chicken and waffle, buttermilk pancakes, french toast and a variety of egg dishes.
The Bobbin
Location: King Street
The Bobbin is a student bar which does good value for money boozy brunch. The cost for the boozy brunch is £25 and you are limited to 6 drinks.
Cocktails,beer and prosecco are all included on the menu. The food menu offers burgers and chick and bacon waffles.
The Triplekirks
Location: Schoolhill
The Triplekirks offer a boozy brunch for just £25 per person. There are a variety of cocktails, beer and prosecco on offer.
On the menu there is Scottish breakfast, quesadilla, crumpets and wings. There are some good options to cater for those with dietary requirements.
Revolution
Location: Union Terrace Gardens
Revolution offers a nice atmosphere for food and drinks. Also, it is a great place to hang out with friends and to have a boozy brunch.
In Aberdeen, it costs £30 per person, an optional cost of £10 per person gets you upgrades on the drinks selection. On the menu expect to see fried chicken and waffles, brunch grill and avocado and poached egg.
Revolcion de Cuba
Location: Academy Centre Courtyard
Revolucion de Cuba offer a boozy brunch menu. There are 3 drink options are you are only limited to 3 drinks per person over a 90 minute period.
The drinks on offer are Strawberry Daiquiri, Bloody Mary or a pint of Mahou. On the menu there is a full breakfast, sweetcorn fritter and the breakfast burrito with other good vegan and vegetarian options too.
Finally, All bar One and O’Neills are so two very popular places to go for a Boozy Brunch.
